It comes in Threes

They say death comes in threes…

And I hate that people say it so casually
like it’s just a pattern,
like it’s just a saying

Because when death shows up,
it doesn’t knock politely.

It doesn’t wait for you to be ready.

It takes.

And suddenly the world is different
in a way you can’t explain
until you’re standing in the quiet after.

One moment you’re laughing.
The next moment you’re learning
how fragile everything is.

How quickly life can fold in on itself.

How fast the people you love
can become memories.

And it makes me realize…

We spend so much time rushing.

Rushing to be better.
Rushing to be healed.
Rushing to be successful.
Rushing to arrive at some version of ourselves
that finally feels… enough.

But life doesn’t work like death does.

Life doesn’t change in an instant.

You don’t wake up one day
and suddenly the pain is gone.

You don’t wake up one day
and suddenly you’re proud of yourself.

You don’t wake up one day
and suddenly you’re everything
you’ve been trying so hard to become.

No…

Life is slow.

Life is a thousand tiny steps
taken while you’re tired.

Life is getting up
when your spirit still feels heavy.

Life is trying again
even after disappointing yourself
over
and over
and over.

Because big dreams
aren’t reached in one breathtaking moment.

They’re reached in the quiet.

In the days you almost gave up
but didn’t.

In the nights you cried
and still showed up the next morning.

In the smallest accomplishments
that no one sees…

But you survived them.

You survived.

And maybe you haven’t met your goals yet.

Maybe you still feel behind.

Maybe you look at your life
and only see what’s missing.

But please…

Please don’t call yourself a failure
just because you’re still becoming.

You are not failing.

You are human.

You are growing
at the pace life allows.

So take a moment…

Look at how far you’ve come.

Look at everything you’ve carried
that should’ve crushed you.

Look at the fact
that you are still here.

Still hoping.
Still trying.
Still dreaming
despite everything.

Take your time.

Cherish the time you have…

Because one day you’ll realize
the life you were rushing through…

was the life.

And you were never behind.

You were just alive.
