Is This Me?

As we try to find out who we are

We tend to forget who we've been

They always say you're the happiest

When you have everything that you need

Can obtain anything that you ever wanted

But what about the price you pay

What good is having everything

When you cant even look in the mirror

Because of the route you have taken.

What is it that has occurred

What is that has changed

I don’t know what to think

Am I simply deranged

I started out so well so great and nice

Now attitude has changed

From that sweet sugar to that dirty spice

I fear what I have become,

I am afraid to even see

I cant believe that person in the mirror

Looking back at me is me.

Thought provoking poem. I think many get caught up in this type of thing. The quest for things often pulls people over the line. Good message in this poem. Thank you for sharing it and for your kind comment. Karen
