Notes About The Poem

Rondelet for contest

Is This a Lie

Is this a lie?
Do you believe the truth, in fact?
Is this a lie?
Substantially, you do belie
the whale of a tale is fact-packed.
The honest truth can be sidetracked.
Is this a lie?

Truth is evasive, but needs to be anchored. Nicely depicted, Kim.

Your title says it all. One has to differentiate between lies and truth. Only the gullible never figure it out.

I have to contemplate more poems in this form. Not easy. The refrain must be strong!

Kim, I really enjoyed this! The repetition of “Is this a lie?” creates such a sharp rhythm of doubt and curiosity--it lingers long after the final line. You wrapped a deep philosophical question in a compact and elegant form, and I loved the play on truth and fiction. Wishing you the best in the contest! Warm regards, Alesia

Interesting poem Kim. I know of a situation that has me questioning what the truth is. This reminds me of that. Well done :)

Where is truth found, that is the question. The answers are in the good book. Hugs and thanks!
