Is It Too Late

Is it too late to apologise
For the uncertainty that induced tears
As a life was nearing loss
And the beats became less frequent
With onlookers left in pain?

Is it too late to apologise
For the shame that was avoidable
And the conversations that were never had
About the cause cast away
In favour of the ideal that was not the same?

Is it too late to apologise
For the inconvenience born
As time was consumed in transit
And moods that were so unbalanced
Leaving hope to succumb to silence?

Is it too late to apologise
For contact that was strained
As convenience morphed into disturbance
And responses became so scarce
While support shadowed ungratefulness' glow?

Is it too late to apologise
For the unease that stole rest
And the hearts that could not bear
As home was diminished to a house
Where shields no longer fall to relieve?
