Is He Insane

the giant office clock slowed down an hour ago
From four to five is at least six hours long
Because it is Friday and we have plans
Robert has his fishing pole and worms in the car
the worms are in a secure refrigerated container.

I stare at the clock willing the second hand to move
It does not care
the boss calls me in
can I stay for a brief meeting after work?
Is he insane? It is Friday!
I have a six-hour drive before I see my twin.

the only day of the week that I look forward to any more
I lead the charge out the door, down the steps, into cars on Fridays

We don’t wave to each other when we reach our automobiles
We are not friends, merely work mates
No way we would party one second outside of work
People are jumping about, giddy with excitement
The clock finally reached five.
I hate my boss.
