Is Danger Near
Who is the person walking hurriedly behind me?
Should I stop to look or continue on my journey?
I wish there was something I could do to feel at ease,
Can you help me? Will you help me, please?
I am near the corner and I am still afraid to cross the street,
Should I keep a watchful eye on every person I meet?
Is danger nearer than I actually think?
I am afraid to close my eyes much less blink.
It is not easy being a child today,
We live in fear of being harmed every day.
A bullet, an unkind word or even a blow,
When any of these will reach us we never know.
Is there someone to protect us at work and play?
I wish there was someone I knew who would tell me what to say.
And when I am too scared to leave my house to go to school,
I wish there was someone around to tell me just be cool.
Why should we be scared in our own community?
Shouldn’t our care and protection be your responsibility?
Time is running out and our future is at stake,
Will you be there for us for the country’s sake?
Why are you silent and danger is near?
We are tired of living in fear!
It is time for you to protect the future generation on this earth,
It is time to break your silence and let us to get to realize our worth.
