Irritated By Pre
Half cat, half vampire, Pre was beyond out there.
Those who approached her, did so on a dare.
She was irreplaceable, a fixture in our workplace for sure.
She had a way about her that said she would endure.
Her eyes give me the creeps, men said. Her energy gives me fatigue.
They were terrified of her beauty; she was way out of their league.
She had a mysterious way about her, we women were intrigued.
We tried to get to know her, but she left us feeling piqued.
What is it about her? We coworkers wondered, as we glanced her way.
She looked happy; which is crazy before the end of each work day.
Rest of us did not come to life until five o’clock, especially on Friday.
Pre was weird. We spread rumors. Jealousy having her way.
She is too pretty, my mother said, when she came to visit me.
You are all intimidated, because she is darling. Anyone can see.
My mother befriended her, and we ate lunch together that day.
As soon as I sat down I noticed that Pre had very little to say.
I left first, and their conversation picked up. Laughter was heard.
None of us had heard her laugh before, I know that sounds absurd.
My mom encouraged me to make her a friend, but this I could not do.
Pre’s beauty was too much for me; I guess I am totally jealous too.
