Introverted
Introverted

My entire life I’ve been an introvert,
always reticent, and therefore slow to mix.
I’ve tried to change but always revert,
finding that reticence had no quick fix.
Always existing, is an uneasy feeling,
I sense all eyes rest upon me.
I think about what each stare is revealing,
while desiring to become carefree.
I don’t care how many faces inhabit a room,
as long as I have arrived there first.
When late, people stare as if to presume,
and I assume they’re thinking the worst.
