Introspection
In the midst of a milling crowd I stand alone,
Nonconforming, footloose and fancy-free
Trekking on my own beaten path and
Reaching yonder for the things sublime
Over in a realm beyond time where
Serenity and conflict-free solitude reign;
Peruse the affairs of this humbler poet
Echoing the whispers of his restive mind
Coursing relentlessly through his veins
Tormenting his very soul, day and night,
Incessant, incoherent but ever insistent
Overwhelmingly self-delusional and yet
Not to be smothered and hidden away.
