Into the Blood

The constant bleeding and despair
Can’t wash it away when you don’t care
An effigy of those we need
Alone on a shrine as we watch and bleed

The darkness deep beneath this skin
Flowing over our hearts, underneath this sin
A pain that alienates our love
No-one to relate, is if they ever could

A bitter loneliness comes close
It cradles our world, now we’re comatose
This sleep is all we’ll ever need
So unaware as the darkness feeds

I wake into a dream of blood
I breathe through the pain, as though I always could
I see the world return to dust
I stand alone then I fall, as I always must

There’s nothing left but blood and pain
Disappearing in turn as they come again
My fear of death was just a dream
This nightmare of life is never what it seems
