Internal Clocks
We changed the clocks at 2 a.m.
And so I woke at 4
But waited ‘til 5:30
‘Til I headed out the door.
Internal clocks remain confused
With switches to the time.
It may take several days or more
Of feeling “off” ‘til I’m
Adjusted to the mornings
Filling up with early light
And similarly, heading in
When 4 p.m. is night.
If we got used to Covid,
Wearing masks and feeling scared,
For trivial disturbances,
We should be well-prepared.
