Tribute poem to indigenous people of America and world over as well as Buddhists and others seeking enlightenment and communion with nature, the universe and spirit.
O remembering the remembering:
the awe of being
in each living thing,
heart's deep song
to it we sing.
Dedicate the merit
of our spirit world:
to the trees, the bees,
the wings unfurled,
we respect and herald.
All the ancestors
who went before
opened up a door
so we can love -
be still once more.
Let us see with
sun's last beam
land's great gifts,
all they mean:
every sentient being.
The water's edge
we're graced to touch -
from life's seas
springs so much.
O release our clutch.
Listen to nature's rules:
not to own
or live alone,
for if you do,
we'll all atone.
Please let us give
be part of awe,
join the kin,
spring, summer, fall -
winter comes to all.
O remembering the remembering:
the awe of being
in each living thing,
heart's deep song
to it we sing.
