Instant Attraction
Stood there on a railway station
Their eyes met, it was the first step
Doesn't take much imagination
To perceive what's following next.
It was an instant attraction
He proposed lunch, too soon, too much?
"Yes please” was her chain reaction
And the day struck the Midas touch.
They'd agreed to meet up next week
To share a lovely afternoon
Of which she could not ever speak
A love tryst in a hotel room.
Such passion she had never known
Her heart came unfurled like a rose
Too soon the lovin’ hours had flown
Time to bring things to wistful close.
Being together was so good
Parting would drive then both crazy
Part they must, it was understood
Because she's a married lady.
Should she stay or follow her heart
It’s a secret she'd have to hide
Would it be too painful to part
Mixed up were her feelings inside.
She watched as her dear husband slept
He'd been such a good steadfast man
Would he hurt badly if she left
Could she dare to go with the plan.
Dejection was par for the course
They'd wallowed in perfect romance
A goodbye to whom she adored
Hurt more than a slash from a lance.
“Stars aligned the moment they met
Was a moment they’d not regret.”
