Inspiration

Inspiration comes as a vapor
A phantom, rarely caught
A shadow seen for a moment
A missing second thought

It's a whisper, then it's silent
A reoccurring dream
Just a glint in the darkness
A momentary gleam

It's just a hint of an echo
That doesn't make it back
A prayer that's been answered
That gets lost inside the black

It's a long forgotten memory
In the back of someone's mind
Sometimes it comes as deja vu
Or a voice unto the blind

Inspiration comes as a vapor
Only fleeting at best
It can't be owned by anyone
For it is only a guest
