Insomnia

Here I am again
Hours past midnight
Listening to the thoughts in my head
Will I sleep tonight?

The tick of the clock
gets louder and stronger
Conversations with myself
I can't take them much longer

I wish I could shut my brain off
And my heart would stop pounding in my chest
I want my nerves to stop jumping
So my body can rest.

I'm so tired, but still awake
Someone calm me down,
knock me out
So I can sleep, for sake!

Awesome insomnia poem. Strange coincidence that I just followed your poem with my "The Power Nap" poem! Ha!
