Inside and Out

On the outside you see a smile, One that can be seen for a mile, It may even last a while, But is slowly eroded by a file. On the inside, they see nothing but the dark, So deep and black and cold, not even a spark, With sorrow cutting so deep, it leaves a mark. You see long sleeves over their wrist, A small detail you certainly missed. Gone forever, never to be seen again.
