Insanity

When I wake up in the morning light
I just want to shut it out
The words that I want to say
Put up a fight, not wanting to come out

I like awake for hours in the night
Now a word from me, not a sound
I'll awake one day with dismay
But for now I don't want to be found

I turn out all of the lights
I cover my mouth with cloth
I can't stand all the fights

Why does it have to be this way
I need a reason to survive
I need to stop fighting the day
I need to lead the day with strive

I watch the cars pass outside
I start to lose my sanity
The blood has all dried
I can't hide from the voice inside me

This is a dark and sad poem and I like it. Have you read any poems by S. Plath? She is in your territory. Take care and keep writing.

Hello Lily, This is a somewhat dark poem and I like it a lot. Your self awareness and how you express it in words is original and very good. Stephen.

Hello Stephen, Thank you for you wonderful comment. Most of my poetry is dark, it's what I do best and what I love most. :) Lily.
