Innocence Defiled
Silence has new meaning
When you're sittting idly bye
Watching someone hurt a child
While listening to them cry
You say it doesn't involve you
That's why you hold your tongue
Never trying to protect them once
While they're hurting one so young
You keep making up excuses
But how do you sleep at night?
Knowing that in another room
A child sleeps with the light
Too scared to close their eyes
They're too afraid to sleep
Not knowing if they'll wake tomorrow
Praying, Lord their souls to keep
Silence can be deafening
Especially the screams of a child
How can you look in the mirror
While innocence is being defiled
