Inner Truth, Inner Light
an inner truth
an inner light
obscured by youth
and an inner plight
so many years
wasted remaining blind
behind a veil of fears
that always seemed to bind
bind me to the past
mourning yesterday
things not meant to last
aching for what went astray
busy searching for
what was out of reach
feeling empty in my core
missing lessons life tried to teach
looking in wrong places
for all of the wrong things
at all the wrong faces
missing God's blessings
but what I needed
was always there
right from the start
in my brown-eyed stare
locked within my heart
I found my inner truth
I found my inner light
no longer obscured by youth
I know I'll be alright
