Inner Joy

Arid grains
slipped by time
into the segment
hourglass
of life
cradled by winds
on sand sweet
as earthly concerns
the days sweep
conscience
asleep
on its compass
guide
fearful to extend
last dot of time
to infinity
of love line
adrift
not a wink
its wealth
to dig
and melt its ice
to sprout
new spring
of melody brooks
butterflies
bees
robins' flights
in periwinkle sky
unseized instants
weighing boat
down
with fear to sail
the ocean within
and surprise
a friend
with spring
but then at night
the desert sky
lights up
with millions
of twinkling stars
a ring of pearl
a sign
that waning faith
has returned
to shine
not to be seen
but for the fun
of being
inviting heart
to let its joy
within
be free
like children's play
not to gain
but games
for the fun of it
sparkling love joy.
