Notes About The Poem

INKWELL'S CONFESSION

White truffle shavings on yesterday's toast~
that's how poems begin. Not with grand themes,
but with the nightclub’s stamp fading on your wrist
as you scrub pans. Ink bleeds like old promises.

Stigmatizations? We all carry them.
The page doesn't judge. It waits, blank as snowfall
before boot prints. Poetic lines are trenches
dug in silence. Dig deeper.

Fallibility is the poet's compass.
True north points toward the next word, trembling.

So true that all poets have a life somewhere beyond their words ~

after you explain what an ink well is it will take on a new meaning for the last three generations....however, I get...been their using an ink blotter to catch the drips of the ink pen. back to the poem....beautifully expresses the angst of the poets plight...so, as I often tell myself, JUST SHUT UP AND WRITE....

thanks, John, for your comments and insightful comments. Sometimes we poets get hung up on ourselves and don't let the process work in our favor. appreciate your visit today.
