Inflicting Upon the Infection

They say its not looking good
that i might lose my toe
then they hand me the bill
and its of i go

now many months later
i sit, still in pain
with so much to lose
and so much to gain

i pick up the pin and think
of the results of one swift swipe
i poke once with that pin
and then begin to type

i postpone the inevitable
i know what i must do
i pick up that damn pin
and say goodbye to you

i look down at my toe
i watch the blood pour out
i feel my body spasm
as i stifle back the shout

now no matter what will happen
whether death or loss of toe
i can say i tried
i know, you know, we know.
