Infamy

infamy

the war to end all wars
did not
thus are the endless battles
ever fought
for we refuse to learn
lessons taught
by empty windows draped
with golden stars
by those who carry still
war’s hidden scars

powerful and so true...war does not help, it's senseless and many carry the scars inside their hearts as well for life lost or the emptiness they feel in their hollow shell after fighting in these senseless wars... good write... hugs

That silent war, so often fought alone, continues to take life after the terror of battle subsides. Thanks for stopping by Sandra

I am with you on this subject, John- sad that few will hear the voice of reason crying like an eagle in a wilderness...a touching write- especially for acknowledging "those who carry still war's hidden scars." Warm regards, ~~AquaM~~

It touches not just those who deploy and serve but all those who wait.....trembling at each phone call...

I think it was Eisenhower that said "there has never been a good war or a bad peace"
