Indifference
Coldness blows against frail human skin,
turning red blood into a river of ice.
The mechanical heart knows no tune,
as the brain forgets the jewel of being nice.
Lips hiss curse words into the frigid air,
polluting the fragile drums of the ears.
These invading sounds erupt in the mind,
showering the glass soul with a spray of tears.
Dead eyes watch without passion,
lost within a vision of human pain.
This sight clouds love's pure light,
and bathes the face in salty rain.
Human feelings quickly grow numb
from indifference's deadly frost.
As life shrouds itself in woven fears,
the flavors of human compassion are lost.
