Independence Day

All hail for the Red, White, and Blue
I always thought I'd spend it with you
but now it's here and you are gone
and I'm spending it all alone

That's okay for at least I know
I can count on me wherever I go
to always be true and always there
which is more than I can say for you, my dear

No more wondering and kept in the dark
if we'll be together or grow apart
You showed your colors ever so true
and all you left me with is blue

I wished I'd known so many months ago
that you would leave me when I needed you most
One day you'll need someone too
and they will leave you with only blue

So think real hard next time you run
about all the things that you have done
Who will be there in the end
Happy Independence day, my friend

You are better off being independent.....and strong. Happy Independence Day (both kinds)!

You deserve independence from this "friend," TuLisha. I found the word choice and rhythm curiously amusing, but you can certainly tell where this is coming from. This friend's true colors seem pretty dark and your spirit is too bright to be confined by someone like this. Shine on, friend! Love, Carolyn

Never lose self in someone else, True blue. Way to go, sow yourself. Love Moses
