Incomprehensible Love

The incomprehensible love of God
Softens the heart and mind;
Leads us to repentance,
So forgiveness we do find.
Upon the cross of Calvary,
The mystery of redemption began.
God’s love for all humanity—
The whole wide world to span.

We can choose to resist God’s love,
But without resistance will be drawn;
Drawn to the foot of the cross;
A transformation to be born.
This incomprehensible love
Influences the heart and soul;
Unconsciously works upon the mind,
And quickens the conscience to roll.

Such incomprehensible love
Is foreign to those who deny
To seek truth and their Savior
And will perish in the nigh.
Their hearts are full of selfish pride
Of what they’ve accomplished;
Denying God’s hand over their lives,
And His Spirit that has diminished.

God’s incomprehensible love
Gives a sincere desire to do right.
To seek love and peace for all,
Rather than antagonism and fight.
Only the broken and contrite heart
Feels the true need of a Savior;
The need of His incomprehensible love;
His mercy, pardon and unmerited favor.
