In Your Friends I See You Every Day

I know your true life has only just begun
But it’s been so hard since we lost our friend, my son
Crying an ocean of warm salty tears
With an emptiness that holds so many untold fears

But my boy would want us to know he's in a good place
And that he’s watching us all with a smile on his face
I am richer for him and proud as can be
That he had so many friends, his special family

Thinking back now I humbly must say
How enormously blessed I am to this day
For in my life, you played the most important part
Those memories I will treasure and keep close to my heart

I am happy for all the friends he got to meet
For in you his story will not yet be complete
I pray that all of you know how much he loved and cared
Like a family, be thankful for the good times that were shared

Although he has gone we will always be together
And his spirit will live on in each one of us forever
When you look to the sky, look for the brightest star
As that will be our angel looking down on us from afar

And now I would like to thank the good Lord above
For blessing me a son with kindness and gentle love
Dear God, if it is not too much fuss
Take extra special care of him as he is very dear to us

And son, if you are listening, say a prayer for us every day
Be sure to protect us and guide us on our way
We know when God called you, you had to go
But we want you to know, Brooks, we miss and love you so
