In Times of Trouble
The dark clouds are approaching they come in from the west
I run to escape them but then I stop to rest
I really should have known I can't outrun the clouds
They blot out the sun the future's what they shroud.
In times of trouble I look inward my mind starts to wander
Drift back through time when memories were fonder
I look at my heart there's this emptiness it’s just like a hole
It changes my thinking, tainting my soul.
The rain becomes teardrop millions of tears
Shed from the sorrow of so many years
Just when you thought the sun would never return
The light fills the sky with the things that I've learned.
Light that's so bright that it's starting to burn
Never quite certain of what it is I yearn
The road seems endless you never reach the end
Destinations are hidden buried in intentions I send.
A voice seems to remind me what I need to do
Troubles just vanish when I'm around you
People pass by maybe to just catch a view
The future's determined by the things that we do.
