In the Zone

----
(Girl’s inner dialogue)
I love him but he doesn’t love me back
It hurts but I can’t just deny the facts
Think nothings worse than what's wrote just above?
Try being 'just friends' with the one you love

His happiness I place above my own
So my one sided love must not be shown
Once dated men, to see what he would do
And yet, it seems, his apathy was true

I only want for him to be happy
And that is why my life's a tragedy
And yet, it seems, I must not let him know
Or awkwardness, between us two, may grow

—

(Boy’s inner dialogue)
I love her but she doesn’t love me back
It hurts, yet it's an undisputed fact
Think nothing could be worse than what's above?
Try being 'just friends' with the one you love

Her joy, I value higher than my own
she doesn’t return any love I’ve sown
But worst of all, there's nothing I can do
When she decides to date somebody new

I only want for her to be happy
Hiding my love, I dwell in tragedy
And now, it seems, I'll always be alone
I'm fated to forever be friend zoned
