In the Watches of the Night
[I'm not really sure this is the right form of lyric, not doing rhymes here]
I look for you in the glow of starlight
I feel your presence though I am stone
and you become a mysterious torment
a whisper in a place with eerie keening.
I collapse on my knees, stunned and passive
pain beats like a soundless drum
you carried away the magic of our past.
All I have left is mere bravado.
In the watches of the night
I suspect daylight will be brief
time is an illusion for you're not there
the reality of our love a flimsy veil.
