In the Mirror
"Can't you see that you're lying to yourself? You can't see the world through a mirror." ~Avril Lavigne
Intently, I stare into the pond;
Pondering over the reflection I see.
Silently resting against a black wood tree,
The cold water softly responding.
All I can see is one reflection
While looking alone in a mirror;
A shining message, all too clear
Echoing my quiet disconnection.
"While watching in a looking glass,
There is but one soul to see,
All troubles rest solely on me."
I caress the dew on the growing grass.
In a reflection I learned from life:
that you can't see the world through a mirror,
Looking inside we can be so shear;
We must reach out and see through others' eyes.
