In the Last Instance

Before sleep
before you close your
    eyes
   letting the light
         fade from view
      Your eyes will
   see flickering shades on
the wall
       The people of
night
     are waiting for you
   In the land beyond dreams
They live and prosper
       In the land which
  knows not of decay and
  they move like jungle cats
       on the prowl
   as we pass into their
        realm
We leave behind the
pain which bright sunshine
        can cause
           Smoke rises from
        the ground
                  In this dance
         we are onlookers
      When we awaken
We'll carry memories
           with us
Gain strength from having
seen
The dark side of the lunar landscape

Makes me think of twilight and unexplained phenomena. So very well written and I enjoyed the touch of eeriness. Well done. Regards Heidie

Wow, Matthew, you evoke memories from compelling dreams that truly do stay with us throughout the day. Sometimes I make an effort to try to remember dreams such as these. Indeed, there is much we can learn from these night visions. Love the sense of mistical images like the jungle cats and the smoke rising from the ground. Great write that makes for a fabulous read! Love, Carolyn
