In the Glow of Half Moonlight

In my solitude...all alone tonight
I walked along a path in the woods
In the glow of half moonlight

Thinking to myself...thinking about my friends
Thinking if I'll see them all
When my own life ends

In my solitude...when I walked along the path
Thinking thoughts of my fun times
Well, I just had to laugh

Thinking to myself...thinking way back when
Thinking if again we'll share
Those lovely laughs again

In my solitude...as I had walked alone
I reached down on the path I walked
And I picked a lonesome stone

Thinking to myself...can I reach those stars
Can I throw it far enough
That the stone will land on mars

In my solitude...all alone tonight
I walked along a path in the woods
In the glow of half moonlight

Congratulations Charles for your honorable mention placement in the contest. There were so many fine poems entered. I loved the reinforcement of each stanza of the lonely walk and yet maybe not so lonely coming through. Bravo

Hello Charles Messina, we all miss our friends and families that have passed. One day we will all be with our friends and families that have passed on. Have a nice evening my friend.

Hi Charles. Friends. I was dismayed to hear, no, we won't see most in heaven. Includes our family members, too. As you may have noticed, our world has no time for the Creator. Those not following His rules, will not be there. They honor the earth and deny Him. Anyway, the poem is great. Stars won't provide eternal life as lovely as they are. Panagiota

A very heartfelt write Charlie, the lines that are repeated makes it all the more attractive - when we are alone we think of our life and people and events that were responsible for these innermost thoughts! Well penned my friend, Hugs, Jennifer.

Deep introspection happens, thoughts and emotions pour out in solitude and when moonlight shines through, the talk with self deepens. A beautiful poem. Loved it. :)
