In the Firelights Glow
Sitting by the firelights glow
Immersed in personal thought
Wandering down memory lane
Dwelling on life-lessons taught
Trying to accept things
That nobody can change
There will always be questions without answers
(That's strange)
If you ask a question
You are entitled to a reply
Is the stifled silence
Because the answer is a lie
When you are young and innocent
Your mind is a clean page
How sad to become cynical
About life as we age
This causes me stress
I become anxious and distressed
The loss of innocence
Upsets me I confess
I know this way of thinking
Is idealistic and unreal
This doesn't alter
The way I feel
The world's gone crazy
Perhaps it's not the case
In the beginning
The world was a beautiful place
What more could anyone want
When God supplied our need
Until Satan showed his ugly face
And introduced us all to greed
The firelights fading now
Night is drawing in
This life is not all
Tragedy, sorrow and sin
If we try to accept
The good with the bad
Life would be easier
And we wouldn't feel so sad
