In the End

Walk through the doors as they slam behind you
hear the echo from the others hollering
Holding your new uniform.
As you walk alone in your mind
Hope and pray you can stay out of trouble,
for the next few years.
Sitting in your cell thinking about what landed you here.
Weight lifting and playing poker are your new gin.
getting your diploma and maybe a degree or two.
Is what lies ahead of you.
With a record hanging over your head,
what will you do when you get out?
Who will want to hire someone with a rap sheet anyways?
All you can do is your time and pray.
That you get a fair shake one day.
