In the End

Centuries have come and gone, The trees silently strengthen and grow enormous Without anyone noticing or caring. They observe our world Through their bark-filled consciousness. They listen intently with sap seeping ears. Their wisdom surpasses ours by hundreds of years. While laughing at our insignificant world, They see us as inconsequential, meaningless creatures. Their mammoth beings know us as weak and pathetic, As our world steadily progresses on the lane to definite destruction. In the end, They know that they will be the ones left standing tall and mighty. While we slowly, but inevitably exterminate ourselves.
