In the Early Morning Hours
In the Early Morning Hours

In the early morning hours
No one else awake but me
The birds are not yet singing
From their perches in the trees
The glow of coming sunrise
Has not lit the eastern skies
As I sit to write some poetry
Clearing sleep from both my eyes
As I write a bird starts singing
Really is an early one
The breakfast worm is calling
Is not waiting for the sun
Nature is preparing
For another busy day
As the Earth keeps on rotating
No doubt the sun is on its way
The glow is just beginning
Showing subtle shades of pink
My head is getting brighter
It's getting easier to think
The light in the neighbor's kitchen
Just lit up the window pane
Soon the coffee will be perking
The day is starting up again
Hope your day is good for you
Hope you faced it with a smile
Think I'll end this ditty
And go enjoy it for awhile
