In the Dead of Winter He Came

In the dead of Winter He came,
and set our hearts aflame,
A burning Torch was He,
Bethlehem's mystery.

Why did the Christ Child come,
for sinners such as me?
Why did He choose to live,
in holy poverty?

He came to pay the debt we owed,
but could not satisfy,
Oh, yes, He did it all for us,
Though I'll never fully know why.

The only motive I can see,
is that, through all eternity,
He wants to share His love with you,
and He wants to share His love with me!

All praise be to the One,
Who sent His only Son,
And all praise to Him Who came,
to set our hearts aflame!

So what is left for me to say,
and what is there for us to do,
but let His Spirit Who dwells in us,
bring us to love Him fully too.
