In the Beginning and In the End

In the beginning
I felt anguish
So deep
That a heart
Can weep
 
That a road
Can lead
To a place
Where I bleed
What I face
 
I felt the anguish
So deep
That a heart
Can weep
 
The triumph of spirit
I cannot yield
To such things
They are not part of me
The dying that you see
 
In the end
I let go of all this anguish
For the children
I weep
It is only this...
That I keep
