In the Absence of Moonlight
In the Absence of Moonlight
When there is no light from an evening moon
And all around it is dark,
There comes upon many and very soon
An awareness of an absence stark.
When light does appear and darkness flee
That absence is no longer felt.
There is now a sense of being free
A victory has been gloriously dealt.
A poem written in rhyme form for Andrea Dietrich’s contest.
