In That Old Man's Eyes
It was an early fall morning when our paths crossed
He was looking for help, I was doing my job
He started talking bout good times, and the life that he'd lived
But you could hear the pain in his voice, as he told me this
He asked, son are you married? I said no sir I'm not
But the woman of my dreams, just broke my heart
It was a week ago Wednesday, I thought my whole world was right
But she said she was scared, now I'm alone in my life
He told me bout the one he lost, about a year ago
55 years of marriage with 3 kids to show
Said sometimes late at night when he sits down for a bite
He can see her silhouette, look him in the eyes
I could see myself in that old mans eyes
I could see all the pain, that he felt inside
I could imagine the thousands, of tears that he cried
And the reflection of me, in that old mans eyes
