In Mourning

I was browsing thru a photo album
I had not seen in quite a while,
I saw many great old pictures,
Many brought to me a smile

But deep inside the album
And which I had long forgot,
Six pages of memorium cards
To my throat there came a knot

Funeral prayers, remembrances
Of people too long gone,
Some I well remembered,
Some where memories to me were non

Six pages devoted to their lives
And, more truely, to their deaths
Sadness swelled up in me,
When I thought of their last breath

Someday my funeral card,
On some shelf or drawer will lay
Or if I'm really lucky
In someone's photo album,
For someone's memory of my day

But the countless billions of lives
Committed to the past
I wonder If they're aware,
Somewhere, someone remembers
The shadows that they'd cast.
