Notes About The Poem

In Memory Ofjohn Denver

This picture is of the Columbine flower by John Denver.
(He was dead long before the shootings at Columbine.)

In my life, I was so blessed to meet you.
You cherished all people, nature, and I think
God designed His glorious sky just for you, too!

Besides your music, I know you cared about
all the hungry folks on this earth.
And you started the Hunger Project wherein
people could plant from our God’s fine earth.

You sang of God’s creation, which is far more
than I will ever do.
What an infinitesimal thing a POTD is, well, John,
when compared to your tunes.

I am so glad to this day, I had a personal chance
to talk with you.
You were as humble and beautiful as the twinkling
stars at night we love to view!

I have no idea why your plane crashed so-suddenly,
with you into the dark sea..
But here is one of your photographs, that is as beautifully
created ……as thee!

Sweet, sweet, sweet tribute to a gentle man, a fine human being. I miss him too. He was my favorite balladeer of the twentieth century. Thank you for this, Pangie. A FAVE for me. Melody and Music, Gershon

I was watching a video of John’s life today.. the music industry was disrespectful. Namely, the Country Music Awards, Elena told me Nashville is very critical. I don’t know the music scene that well. I liked Jefferson Airplane, Janice Joplin and many more. Edith Piaf, Aznavour and the Gibbs. The list goes on. Plus ethnic music of all kinds.Jazz, etc.I have yet to meet a compassionate, great performer who lacks humility. They all credit God.I haven’t posted.John’s philanthropic Awards,…blew me out of the water. A Fav from you is like an Oscar.thank you. At a loss for words. Pangie

he was a super talented song writer. When I learned guitar in my 40's, my teacher always was giving me John Denver songs and I got to know his work even better that way. It was a sad day we lost that great singer

What a great story about you, Andrea and guitar and John Denver. I learned guitar before John Denver. At the Chicago old town, school of folk music.. John wasn’t around them. Do you have any idea of the philanthropy he has done. I think most of us to not. He was amazing I hope to write another poem about him, because the list of things he did for humanity is enormous, and never mentionEd. He’s an example for all of us. His music today is more important than ever…We need to be a global community, not all the infighting, and I’m better than you nonsense. All of us, God’s children.. Bless us all

Pangie, this is so well penned, and what a memory. Seemed like John was the voice of America so long ago. His songs still re-play in our head as if he's still around. So many artistic greats disappear way too soon.

Hi David, I’m starting all over again because there were so many errors. I am so sorry.. oh right you are about John who’s one of the last voices in America. Outside of some singers in Tennessee.. it seems that America is on a course to destroy itself and. all our constitutional rights . .. I was doing some research and I found out how many awards John has when it comes to this country. So I might do a put it on tomorrow, just listing all he was awarded.. … I tell you it blew my mind. He was not just a singer. He was far more a humanitarian plus.. I only wish that I could have such accolades after I die. My poetry is no big deal…. perhaps others here are outstanding not mine and that’s OK. Pangie xx

Splendid tribute, Pangie! Vera and I saw him perform at the Colorado State Fair a few years ago. My all-time favorite, down to earth entertainer. Mr Colorado to the core! Bob H

Hi Bob. So glad that you and Vera, got to see him perform the way music is today? Awful after I wrote this, I thought of you…. I wondered if you had gotten to see him too well mow I know you saw, Mr. Olofact? And he loved. the USA. I never saw him in concert. I saw him sing to a group of 300 ar the Fairmont Hotdl in SF. When we were launching the Hunger Project. That was the night I talked to him. Glad you and Vera heard him at the Colorado State Fair.))) Pangie Xx. Your response is greatly appreciated.

Sincere thanks for dropping by today And commenting you know, writing about John bROUGHT Back great memories of all the folks we were INVOLVED with in SF ….It reminded me that I played for bigger stakes in life. And the people I was involved with making a difference in the world.. I miss that so very muchso I am not going to get hung up on my poetry anymore, because I am not a GREATB poet, and I do not know what my next step is just hesitating.. it’s always easier to stay in the comfortable place. But…. Not satisfying.. I do not know what is not for me, but I know I have played for higher stakes and that is my ballpark. Simply, in the reply, there is a lot of strength possible. The chance to openly communicate and not try to get my was two words ….for me …that is a no pass.. I’m for open and honest communicating.. Anything less ….like commenting to as many as many as i can …is unfulfilling. So are using one word primary school words. Not me! Pangie x x

With gratefulness for being a stand by friend for five years. Might I add, an accomplished poet, who shared Denver’s humility. I talked to John for at least 25 minutes. He was dedicated to the transformation of the human race. Meaning…being who you are and stop trying to change yourself. We all go through that one. Ugh…. John was dedicated to ending world hunger. I was devastated upon hearing of his demise. Thank you for FAVING, I don’t track mine. I am here to learn. Long way to go. For me. Panagiota xx
