In Me

Reshape my heart and then commit to stone
Undo this sorrow and then take me home
Back to innocence and happy days
Only so I will come back this way

I’d close my eyes only to see things worse
I’d hold my ears but then I’d hear this curse
I’ll speak some for you to relieve this grief
But then I’ll realise what I have unsheathed

I’m only bitter when you come too close
I’d die for everyone but you impose
You hold my face and smear it into flames
And after fire you become my shame

This hole is deepening and I know why
My grave is dug and I just wait to die
The things around me seem to turn to dirt
I’m digging deeper every time I hurt

I believe in good despite the lack of proof
Only within can I believe some truth
I may be dying but at least I’m me
The only place that there is love to see
