Notes About The Poem

This poem, was in large part, prompted by the current situation with some of the American swimmers at the Olympics in Brazil. All actions have consequences. There is no "poor me" for your actions when you know what you're doing.

In Life

In Life

No matter what you say in life
No matter what you do
There's always someone watching
Even if it's only you

That little voice inside your head
That says it's time for thought
Reminds you that there's consequence
From childhood you are taught

Those little guys upon your shoulders
One is good and one is bad
Are vying for attention
With the voice that's in your head

If you hear the voice or feel the weight
On your shoulders in a fight
Then you have no real excuses
'Cause you know what's wrong from right

The choices made are yours to own
There's no one else to blame
Is it good or bad you listen to
When they both call out your name
