In His Eyes

I hold him close
as we watch tv
those big blue eyes
looking up at me

Sometimes he speaks
about his dad
trying to understand
this six year old lad

We look at pictures
when his dad was young
there is no dought
he is his fathers son

Big blue eyes
and cotton white hair
his Alabama Sweats
he loves to wear

The pain is there
hidden away
we talk of the fun times
during his stay

In those eyes
a grandmother sees
his confusion and questions
he wants to ask me

They were so close
and they looked like twins
always together
best friends

Beautifully written, You can feel your love and also the pain. Sad words but expressed so well. It so good to be able to read your words again. Ron
