In December 2000 We Said I Do

IN DECEMBER 2000 WE SAID I DO

In the haze , of a dimly lit dance floor.
Swayed a couple who were madly in love,
They had met at a wedding,
Knew the way they were heading,
But fate had in mind another way,
Certainly not a quick role in the hay!
They dated sometime in the seventies,
Lost touch in the eighties,
And most of the nineties,
During this time each had a son,
For which they thanked God a ton.
His marriage had landed on the rocks,
And hers because she thought out of the box,
Both were divorced,
However,
Their love was about to be reinforced.
At the turn of the 21st century,
Bumped into each and spent a memory,
Charged day,
They rushed off to say I do, and excitedly
Headed for a bundle of hay!

You have such a sweet love story, Jenn. I always find it interesting how fate brings people together. Your path had some winding turns but still you ended up where you belonged. And you are coming up on 20 years in December, congrats. Hugs, John

Hi my dear friend, CayCay although we couldn't keep our hands to ourselves at all when we met again, it was the strangest feeling that we were blood related - that's impossible of course, but our love encompasses that of husband and wife firstly, then of siblings then of parents and even children - we feel all those loves as well as the love that friends have between them. Your comments are all so heartfelt and genuine and shine with an aura around, which i believe is always with you. Poetry hugs and love, Jennifer

Oh my, I read this per your list and now see I had already loved it! I shall watch for that going forward, but oh well, it's not like I haven't walked down my own aisle more than once.

so cute, how you used the roll in the hay expression inside the poem. You are very very fortunate to have found each other again. Awesome!

Hi Andrea, Yes we are lucky and we'd waited long enough for that roll in the hay! Glad you enjoyed. I think you will enjoy the others as well. Love and hugs, Jenny.

Funny you be!! So this is based on a true story based on your reply to a comment below. If so, then congratulations on a successful lunar landing (lol). It's not easy. I can say that after 41 years of marriage to the same person.
