In between rain drops

In between rain drops of nimbostratus skies,
he sheds salty tears at our ocean's demise..
Sharks with their peculiar odd strides,
dead sea lions and whales wash in on oily tides..
Deep in the jungle where the lions abide, he
hears the baby elephants cries. Alone, now
orphaned from dawn til dusk, their mother's
slaughtered to sell the tusks..
Acres of forests rich in oaks and pines logged,
decimated for the needs of mankind..
This gracious gift given at his command to allow
humans to be guardians over seas and land.
God entrusted us with our planet earth, not to
dominate nature on land and surf..
Our planet, exploited, depleted, hurting.
God is sadly disappointed and that is for certain.

I agree that the earth has been used, abused and not taken care of properly. God instructed man to take care of it and he has failed. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Hi Ms. Sara, You are so right, sadly abused our planet. I haven't any grands myself unfortunately but feel this is a common ground for us all to focus on. Blessings to you and your family.

Your poem is a compelling and emotionally charged meditation on environmental degradation and humanity’s responsibility to protect the earth. Through vivid imagery, a rhythmic rhyme scheme, and a blend of environmental and spiritual themes, it effectively communicates the urgent need for change. The poem invites readers to reflect on their actions and the broader implications of their relationship with nature, underscoring the moral and ethical duty to care for our planet.

This is my biggest concern with the likelihood of another Trump presidency. He wants to drill baby drill. With all the weather uncertainty, why don't people want to put their focus here to save our planet for future generations? Thanks Silent One.

Heartfelt environmental poem, Nancy. I'm very moved by it. I joined Greenpeace for this sad reason. God's blessings to you. :)

Hi Regina, Greenpeace is a wonderful organization. When I have money for charities these days, which isn't as much as it once was, I give to World Wildlife Fund, Environmental Defense Fund and try to help out some. Blessings to you..
