In Between

“This poem is dedicated to a Law School classmate who left without knowing why. It was my cowardice and selfishness that everything was left “in between”” In Between It wasn’t a story It wasn’t a tale In between, sweet memories Linger on and stay It wasn’t profound It wasn’t on the surface In between, reticence abound Face to face It wasn’t courtship It wasn’t acquaintance In between, just friendship Each keeps a distance It wasn’t hot It wasn’t cold In between, steely hearts Nothing unfold Hope it wasn’t goodbye But just a respite In between, no words suffice For any would deride Wherever you may be Hope time passes warm and calm In between, parted by the sea I longed for your open arms Jit.
