In a State of Drunkenness
So goodbye, sir! I have to leave you now
For the horrible pressure in my head.
It happens; I got drunk, I don’t know how.
Sorry, I don’t remember what you said...
You look at me and smile in disbelief;
The little, strong drink caused the confusion,
And cheerfulness, and discomfort, in brief.
But I hope I behave within reason...
Everything seems bizarre, funny, or strange,
And your surprise is really laughable.
I didn’t suppose this only glass could change
My slant on events. It’s unbelievable...
Sir, thank you for this too short evening
Because of the glass full of strong whiskey.
Please talk quietly and be understanding
For the headache escalating sharply...
Bye-bye, sir! My cab is waiting for me.
You’re charming, but don’t expect too much.
Sorry, I plan no life changes, you see...
This evening was very nice, I’ll be in touch!
